Inside our cold-chain process for chemical freight
A-side (ISO) and B-side (resin/polyol) chemistry is viscosity-sensitive, and Canadian winter freight is the single biggest threat to a set arriving spray-ready. Below about 10°C, both sides thicken enough to throw off ratio at the gun even before a contractor notices a problem — which is why temperature control is a shipping decision, not something fixed after the drums arrive cold. From November through March, chemical orders default to insulated or actively heated trailers rather than standard dry-van freight, and dispatch timing is built around minimizing time spent sitting at an unheated cross-dock terminal overnight, which is where most freeze-related damage actually happens — not in transit, but during a layover.
Drums are palletized and shrink-wrapped in matched A-side/B-side sets so a set never arrives split across two shipments, and every pallet is manifested with lot numbers that match the SDS and WHMIS documentation riding with the shipment. If a drum shows any sign of freeze damage or a cracked bung on arrival, our team can trace that pallet back to the specific freight leg and carrier it moved on — most competitors can only tell you the shipment left the warehouse on a given date.
